Functional and Motility Disorders

Print

Minnesota Gastroenterology has made a commitment to provide premier care to patients in need of gastroenterology services.  In 2012, Minnesota Gastroenterology opened a clinic designed for patients with functional and motility disorders.

The Functional and Motility Disorders Clinic offers a collaborative approach to the evaluation and treatment of functional disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and functional dyspepsia, as well as motility disorders such as gastroparesis and pelvic floor dysfunction.  It is staffed by physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants with special interest and training in the evaluation and treatment of functional and motility disorders, working together with a team approach to patient care.

The Minnesota Gastroenterology providers work collaboratively with a health psychologist, Dr. David Alter, who also has special interest and expertise in treating patients with functional gastrointestinal disorders.  Patients are actively engaged in their evaluation and treatment plan.
