Richard J Stafford, M.D.
Professional Background
Dr. Stafford received both his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. He performed his internship and residency in pediatrics at the University of California, Los Angeles. Following his residency, Dr. Stafford did a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at Children’s Hospital medical Center in Boston, finished in 1981. During this period, he also served as research associated for the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, and Instructor in Pediatrics at Harvard School of Medicine.
Dr. Stafford is board-certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics in both general pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology.
Since 1983, Dr. Stafford has served as Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota. He has been an advisor to the Minnesota Chapter of the National Foundation for Ileitis and Colitis. Dr. Stafford has also served on numerous medical staff committees for Minneapolis Children’s Hospital.
In his leisure time, he enjoys being with his family, playing sports and listening to music.
