Professional Background

Dr. Lowry is a native of the Twin Cities.  He attended Williams College, where he graduated magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa (junior year).  He attended Tufts University School of Medicine, and completed an internship in internal medicine at the University of California, San Diego, and a residency in internal medicine at the Mayo Clinic.  Dr. Lowry subsequently completed an infectious disease fellowship at Stanford University, and a gastroenterology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic.

He is Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Infectious Disease, and the American Board of Gastroenterology.  He is interested in research, and has authored 35 publications in the areas of infectious disease and gastroenterology.  Dr. Lowry is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and Minnesota International Health Volunteers.  His special interests are new techniques in colonoscopy and issues pertaining to colon cancer screening, as well as inflammatory bowel disease and general gastroenterology.

In his leisure time, Dr. Lowry enjoys spending time with his wife and three children; hiking, skiing, and bicycling.  He is a bass singer with VocalEssence.
