Dorothy I Whitmer, M.D.
Professional Background
Dr. Whitmer graduated Phi Bea Kappa from Wellesley College in Massachusetts with a B.A. in molecular biology. She received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston in 1978. From 1978 to 1981, Dr. Whitmer was a resident in internal medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston and a clinical instructor at Harvard medical School. She then completed a three-year gastroenterology fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and was a research fellow at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Whitmer is board-certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine. Her special medical interests include: treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, esophageal diseases and colonoscopy. She has had numerous articles about her digestive research published in medical journals.
In her leisure time, Dr. Whitmer likes to bicycle and cross-country ski.
