Professional Background

Born in Saskatchewan, Canada, Dr. Weinberg graduated from medical school at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg in 1968. He performed his internship at Jewish General Hospital in Montreal. He completed residency programs in internal medicine at Winnipeg General Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba; Montefiore Hospital, Bronx, New York, and Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Weinberg completed his fellowship in gastroenterology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

A Diplomate of the American Board of Gastroenterology and the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Weinberg is board-certified by both of the national medical societies. He is also a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Weinberg is a clinical instructor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Minnesota. He is actively involved in clinical research. His special medical interests include: inflammatory bowel disease and endoscopic diagnosis and therapy. Dr. Weinberg has been involved both locally and nationally with the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America.

When time permits, he enjoys traveling and has a particular interest in both the theatre and visual arts.  Dr. Weinberg is also involved in community volunteer activities.
