Professional Background

Dr. Stone graduated Cum Laude from St. Olaf college in Northfield and then entered medical school at the Indiana University School of medicine in Indianapolis, graduating in 1977. He returned to Minnesota for both his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Minnesota. Next he moved to California to complete his fellowship in gastroenterology at Stanford University School of Medicine.

For five years, he served as Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. During the same period, he was Chief of the Gastroenterology Section of the Oakland VA Medical Center in Pittsburgh. In 1987, he moved back to Minnesota to join the medical staff faculty at the University of Minnesota. During this time, he worked as a staff physician in the gastroenterology section of the Veterans’ Administration Hospital.

Dr. Stone joined Digestive Healthcare in 1992. Presently, he is also an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota. His special medical interests are general gastroenterology and hepatobiliary disorders. He has lectured extensively of digestive diseases and has had numerous medical abstracts selected for presentations at educational conference.

He is Board Certified, both in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.  His practice is located in the South Metro Area.
