MNGI's Response to News Report of Proton Pump Inhibitors and Hip Fractures

The providers at Minnesota Gastroenterology are aware of the recent CBS news report linking proton pump inhibitors (such as Prilosec, Nexium, Prevacid) and hip fractures. This report does not prove that proton pump inhibitors cause hip fractures but it suggests a potential association. As with all medications, the benefits need to be weighed against the risks.
