Southern Nevada Health District Notifies Patients of Potential Exposure to Hepatitis C

On Feb 27, 2008 CBS reported several cases of hepatitis C infections from an encounter at a Nevada endoscopy center.  An investigation identified the re-use of syringes (not needles) and the use of single dose vials of anesthesia medication on multiple patients as the potential sources of contamination.

In response to this report, the physicians of Minnesota Gastroenterology would like to reassure you that our endoscopy centers do not reuse syringes or needles.  Our practice ensures single – one patient use – syringes.  Our staff is trained in infection control and proper use and disposal of syringes and needles.  If you have questions or concerns please contact Minnesota Gastroenterology at 612-871-1145.
