What Keeps Me Coming Back

August is MNGI Pride Month.  During this time, our employees have an opportunity to share the experiences that make them feel good about the job that they do.  We recognize that it’s the little things that keeps our employees coming back to work each day, and gives us satisfaction even when we have a rough day.  Here are some of those experiences that MNGI employees have shared:

One of my MD’s has a patient that has Crohn’s disease.  She was struggling with issues with her disease itself and also having to be off of work a lot because of the Crohn’s.  She lost her insurance coverage and I had been unable to get her Mercaptopurine medication, which she really needed to be on.  I did some research and got her hooked up with the TEVA assistance program so she could get her medication.  When all was said and done and the medication was approved the program was unable to ship to the patient’s house directly – only to our office.  She was having transportation issues also, so to help her out I drove over after work hours to her home in Savage to bring her the medication.  She was so grateful to know that someone would go out of their way to help her.  It made my day and gave me a good feeling that I could go above and beyond to assist a patient in need.  ~ Michele K.

I love it when patients have a sense of humor when scheduling them for their colonoscopies.  We have many patients that can make light of the situation and it really helps to make the calls go faster!  ~ Deb M.

MNGI gives me reason to go to work.  I’m a people person.  My mother always told me “whatever you give you will always double your return.”  MNGI gives me a challenge to talk with, to reassure, to encourage and to check in patients.  Thank You. ~ Pat T.

It’s the satisfaction I get talking with our patients and instructing/educating them on how to prep for a procedure or other test.  It’s a great feeling to see the fear or anxiety fade once they realize the procedure is not as bad as anticipated.  Using humor in your conversations can certainly help.  ~ Megan M.

We had a mom that needed Neocate (a very expensive and specialized formula).  Her insurance was ending in a few days and was then beginning a new insurance.  Her new insurance did not cover the Neocate.  We gave the mom a few sample cans and talked to the insurance company.  The insurance company wanted her to use another “preferred” formula.  The mom was willing to try the formula.  Her daughter did not gain weight and was crabby and irritable on the new formula.  Myself and another co-worker called the insurance company every day until they understood the situation and are now paying for the Neocate.  Needless to say, the child is now growing and thriving.  Mom sent us a thank you note and a picture.  The patient’s picture now hangs above my computer.  ~ Kristin L.

Seeing the little kids’ faces when they get to pick out a sticker or use the “token machine” to get a prize.  It makes you forget the one that kicked your during a blood draw 5 minutes ago!  ~ Beth T.

What keeps me coming back is the way I feel when I’m at work.  We are a close knit family here.  I love how the doctors interact with us all day, everyday.  Business or personal, they always are open to conversing.  I didn’t have this at another healthcare facility I worked at.  ~ Anonymous

It is my absolute favorite thing when I do a blood draw on a patient (big or small) and they tell me I did a great job!  ~ Jessica Y.

There was a gentleman that was terminally sick and said “Why don’t you just grab that sun and bring it down to me!”  He explained to me that I was the cheeriest person he had spoken with that day, and that MNGI knew what they were doing when they made me an operator.  That day I really felt like I had made a difference.  ~ Kim S.

Basically the entire staff enjoys what they do and it shows.  The patients are relaxed because of the staff, the staff enjoys each other.  It all goes full circle.  Everyone benefits.  ~ Anonymous

What keeps me coming back … all of our patients.  Giving them great care and giving them good results are priceless.  ~ Mary M.

I am on the phones 99% of the time here.  Being able to hear patients tell me that ‘I make their day’ or just to know that I help to make a difference keeps me coming back.  ~ Demetris L.
