Minnesota Clinical Research Center (MCRC), a subsidiary of Minnesota Gastroenterology, P.A. (MNGI), is committed to the ethical conduct of clinical research based upon sound scientific principles. We have been conducting gastroenterology clinical trials for more than ten years. All of our studies are conducted under the supervision of highly experienced providers, all of whom specialize in gastroenterology.
Minnesota Gastroenterology has freestanding adult clinic and endoscopy centers in five convenient Twin Cities’ locations. Through these clinics and endoscopy centers we are able to provide many of the onsite services necessary for clinical trials, including:
- Upper and lower endoscopy procedures
- Examination rooms
- Esophageal manometry
- pH monitoring
- Lactose, lactulose and fructose breath tests
- Helicobacter pylori breath tests
- IV infusion therapy
Research accommodations include:
- Blood specimen collection, processing, and shipping
- Dry ice
- Centrifuge
- Temperature-monitored biologic sample refrigerators and freezers (-2° to -8 ° C and a -20° C)
- Secure/locked study record and investigational product storage space
- 12-lead interpretative EKG
- On-site medical records and secure electronic medical records storage
- Convenient access to outpatient diagnostic services – such as liver biopsy, radiology, nuclear medicine and ultrasound – through affiliations with local medical facilities
Research and administrative staff include a Medical Director of Research with over 20 years of experience; a Clinical Director/RN, experienced in research management; and a dedicated team of research coordinators, who are trained to implement, conduct and manage clinical trials.
Research staff and administrative responsibilities include:
- Careful pre-study evaluation of feasibility, merit and ethical considerations for all clinical trial proposals
- Contract review and budget evaluation
- Regulatory and IRB document submission and reporting
- Use of central IRB’s
- Patient recruitment
- Study tracking
- Study coordination and case report form completion
- Experienced use of electronic data reporting and randomization methods
Pediatric GI clinical trials are conducted by MCRC at the MNGI pediatric clinic in St. Paul.
