Experience
The amount of experience your doctor has treating certain conditions is a good indicator of results. In other words, the more experience, the better the results.
In 2005, MNGI physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants provided routine and emergency care to more than 100,000 patients with GI disorders and conditions.
Most studies report that health care providers who complete a high volume of procedures have better patient outcomes as well (Annals of Internal Medicine, Sept. 17, 2002). According to the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, a physician should perform at least 100 colonoscopies annually. All MNGI gastroenterologists perform a minimum of 250 colonoscopy procedures annually, with some of our doctors completing as many as 1,000 colonoscopies each year.
